The Wellesley Widows are a thirteen-voice a cappella singing group. We have been singing together for over fifty years, making us one of the nation's oldest women's collegiate a cappella singing ensembles. We first performed as "flappers" for a father-daughter weekend back in 1949. Originally called the "College Octet," the Widows borrowed the song "Mimi the College Widow" from the Yale Whiffenpoofs, changing the lyrics to "We are the College Widows," and the name stuck. Today we have a wide repertoire, specializing in popular music from the 1930s to the present, including modern songs by Duran Duran, Shakira and Bon Jovi. We are proud to carry on a tradition of fine musical entertainment to audiences all over the United States as: The Wellesley Widows - Dressed to Kill since 1949.

Wellesley Widows 60th Anniversary Concert

The time has come for our much anticipated 60th Anniversary Concert! Come meet members of the Widows past and present, on Saturday, May 2nd. The concert will be held in Houghton Memorial Chapel at 8:00pm. Hope to see you all there!

We will also be raffling off gift baskets filled with gift certificates from your favorite stores so don't forget to bring some extra money!

The concert is free with Wellesley/MIT student ID and there is a suggested $5 donation for guests.

ATTENTION ALUMS: Please note that there will be a special celebration closed to Widows members only in the afternoon on May 2nd. Mingle with your a cappella sisters at 2:00pm in Tishman Commons, located on the bottom floor of the Lulu Chow Wang Center.
